Back-up and VPP ready: New hybrid solar inverter cleared for local installation

New Hybrid Solar Inverter Approved for Australian Installation

GoodWe Launches New Hybrid Inverter Approved for Australian Market

The Clean Energy Council (CEC) has given the green light to a new single-phase hybrid inverter designed for installation, which features backup power capabilities, high-capacity photovoltaic (PV) input, and integration with virtual power plants.

Last week, Chinese solar inverter manufacturer GoodWe announced that its GoodWe EHB Series single-phase hybrid inverter has been approved for use in Australia.

Specifications and Features

This hybrid inverter is available in three variants: 5kW, 8.6kW, and 10kW, and it allows for an impressive 200 per cent solar input oversizing, accommodating up to 20kW. GoodWe claims that this new range merges inverter and battery management into a single, efficient unit, catering to the increasing energy requirements of Australian households, including backup power and virtual power plant connections.

The EHB Series is compatible with batteries ranging from 80-495V and supports a charge/discharge current of 50A. It provides backup power with a swift switch time of less than 10 milliseconds during outages, ensuring that essential appliances remain operational.

Design and Warranty

GoodWe asserts that the EHB Series is particularly well-suited for complex rooftop installations and mixed orientations, all while being lightweight, compact, and easy to set up. Additionally, it comes with a 10-year warranty and boasts an IP65 rating, complete with built-in Type II surge protection.

Dean Williamson, GoodWe’s country manager for Australia and New Zealand, expressed pride in introducing the EHB Series to the Australian market, highlighting its next-generation features that offer enhanced flexibility, integrated backup capabilities, and seamless virtual power plant integration.

Market Timing and Availability

The CEC’s approval arrives just in time for the EHB Series to benefit from the Australian federal government’s Cheaper Home Batteries programme, which commenced on July 1. GoodWe anticipates that its EHB Series will be a strong candidate for installations eligible for battery rebates under this new initiative.

The EHB Series is now available for installers and distributors, ready for installation under all federal and state rebate programmes. Williamson added, “We’re thrilled to announce that the new EHB hybrid inverter range has officially received Clean Energy Council (CEC) approval, ensuring full compliance with Australian standards and making it rebate-ready under the Federal Battery Incentive Scheme.”

This launch underscores GoodWe’s commitment to delivering high-performance, intelligent storage solutions that facilitate Australia’s swift transition to sustainable energy.
