Longi Launches Lightweight Solar Panel for Factory Rooftops
Chinese solar manufacturer Longi has introduced a new lightweight solar panel tailored for low-load commercial and industrial (C&I) applications.
This new offering, the Hi-MO X10 Light design Module, aims to address the 30 per cent of rooftops that are unsuitable for traditional solar panels due to weight constraints.
Key Features of the Hi-MO X10 Light Module
Weighing in at just 7.2 kilograms per square metre, this innovative solar panel represents a significant reduction of over 30 per cent compared to standard solar panels, and a remarkable 42 per cent lighter than conventional dual glass TOPCon modules.
Utilising Longi’s advanced solar technology, installing these panels on a rooftop of 10,000 square metres can decrease the load by an impressive 34 tonnes. Longi estimates that this new module could potentially enable rooftop solar installations across 1 billion square metres of factory rooftops worldwide.
Efficiency and Cost Benefits
Despite its lightweight design, the Hi-MO X10 Light module boasts a maximum efficiency of 24.8 per cent and a peak power output of 560 watts (W). Each module provides 140 W more power than traditional lightweight solar options, leading to a 33 per cent reduction in balance of system (BoS) costs.
This means that the Longi Hi-MO X10 Light design Module not only enhances energy savings but also eliminates the need for costly and time-consuming rooftop reinforcements, significantly speeding up installation times.
Enhanced Reliability and Safety Features
Longi asserts that its new panel offers greater reliability compared to other lightweight alternatives, thanks to the anti-shading capabilities inherent in its Hi-MO X10 series. These features help mitigate the risks of overheating and fires, ensuring the longevity of the panels even in varying shading conditions.
Market Availability
Currently, the Longi Hi-MO X10 Light design Module has been launched in the Chinese market, with no immediate plans announced for its release in other regions.
